First Whee Build - Single Speed

not found anything that is single speed specific.

I was thinking about that a while back. The wheel that came on my fixie
has the trailing spoke go "over over" under when fixed, and "under
under over" when flopped to f/w. I'd likely build each side so that
it's properly laced as if it were on the drive side. It might not
matter, or I could be tragically wrong. :-P

Well, I would use 14/15 but 15/16 will work fine.

Nope just a symmetric wheel, tension the same on both sides. Like a
front wheel.NICE hub.

Looks good, but I'm no making any judgement about the spoke length,
since I haven't looked it up.

That's 'cause there's nothing "specific" about singlespeed wheels.
They're slightly easier to build than derailer type wheels, that's all.

They also tend to be WAY stronger than derailer type rear wheels due to
the symmetrical flange spacing.

If you are going to ride on the street, I HIGHLY recommend that you try
fixed gear first, it's a LOT more fun. I'd suggest a gear in the mid
70's for rolling terrain.

Well, I would use 14/15 but 15/16 will work fine.

Thanks for pointing that out. I meant to use 14/15, but had just read
the post on dt 15/16 spokes and the brain locked in on that. Probably
would have tried to buy the wrong ones too.
