Well.. I think I got a signal from a higher power. I used to do a lot
of Mountain Biking, singletrack up in Tsali, Freeride, Urban, you name
it. But somewhere along the ride I slowly lost interest, eventually
selling my beloved Ellsworth on Ebay. several years have passed, and I
am too damn fat.
Last weekend the wife and I stopped into a Goodwill store here in
Florida, I saw a recumbent bike by the front door, it looked like
brand new and it was labeled at $99.00, I saw Sram X9 and LX and
immediately said "I think I should be buying this", but before the
words were out of my mouth, I saw a matching one on the other side of
the clothes rack, also at $99. I bought them both.
What I bought was two Sun EZ-Sport AX limited's, they are both
virtually brand new. One had a couple broken spokes on the front, so I
dropped it off at my old trusty bike shop and had it re-laced with
heavy duty spokes (did I mention I am fat?).
Tonight the wife and I jumped on em and did an effortless 5 miles. I
must say I am at the minimum impressed. I have never rode a recumbent
before. I would say everything I didn't like about bikes is gone, no
numb fingers, sore ass, nothing, just pedal in comfort and go fast.
I needed to get back into the saddle and I feel nothing short of a
gift has been sent my way.
