  1. I haven't ridden a mountain bike for about 5 years until today. I wanted to do something as my cycling has been severly interupted lately by injury but I have a nasty cold. Therefore the mountain bike seemed the best option.

I didn't like it. Its not quick but at the same time maybe not as slow as I thought it might be. You can certainly see a lot better I think because you are higher and because your head is upright but thats about all the good I have to say about it. That is apart from the fact I didn't feel the urge to go for it making it a much more pleasant ride.

I kept feeling the urge to lean over onto my elbows because I felt so high!

I'm sure the mountain bikers will have something to say about my views and I'm the first to admit that I'd begin to enjoy it more if I had to use one everyday.

  2. yes, the road and mtb have different geometry...one of the reasons why mtbs are more upright is becuase aerodymanics isnt so important, and aslo moutain bikes are designed to up and down steeper hills than a road bike so has to be more versatile..

tell me mike, did you take the bike off road or did you just do a few blocks of tarmac?

    Hey MichaelB,

Get yourself over the border to sunny Wales mate! (I'm only an hour's drive away)

Come for a ride at Llandegla, Betws, or in the Clwydians - if you don't go home smiling I'll eat my chainset. 😄

    Steve
