China, representing a jump of more than 80% over previous years. This trend
is set to continue with an average rate of 15% year on year growth in car
ownership expected."
To put these numbers in perspective, there were 137,633,000 passenger
vehicles registered in the United states in 2001 (from the current U.S.
Statistical Abstract), plus 84,188 vans, pick-ups and SUV's, 7,858,000
trucks and a bunch of other miscellaneous stuff.
