What do you guys think of the first ITT so late in the race? For me, it's a welcome change. It gives the climbers (hello chicken) the possibility to really shine (in yellow even!) during the first mountain stages. I think it also changes the tactics of the first mountain stages since the gaps are much smaller than they would be after an ITT the first weekend. There's simply no clear favorite. The focus shifts more on attacks than defense.
The most boring TdFs were the ones with the TTT the first weekend. Basically, the first 6-7 riders in GC belonged to the same team. Yawn.
