FIR Wheels - Anyone Ride Them??

I have one set of wheels I built on FIR rims. They built well and have worked well after 8,000 miles.
However, I built two other sets of wheels and had the FIR rims fail at the eyeletted spoke holes before the wheels were completed.
The FIR Rims cracked and spokes started to pull through from just the force of stress relieving.
My FIR sample size is admittedly small, but I have never had a build failure with Mavic, out of more than 500 rims.
You should be able to get a very serviceable, hand built, training wheelset for less than $250 including DT14/15 Competition spokes, Mavic Open Pro rims, and quality Campy or Shimano (Ultegra) hubs.

03/18/07 On a descent on Stanwood Road in Santa Barbara, California at about 38mph my rear Fir Wheel (SAG 30, Apollo) cracked, blew out the tube,and tire and threw me into ditch. I am very fortunate to have a walked away. More to follow, I will contact the manufacturer.
