  1. After months of looking around, I finally got my first road bike today. It's a
Trek Pilot 2.1 with carbon fork and seat stays with 105's and an ultegra rear derailleur. Now if I can just figure out how to get my feet out of these f......ing pedals without falling and I'll be alright!!! Thanks to everyone who responded to my many questions.

  2. Congratulations and welcome to our world! As for the pedals, practice in a deserted parking lot until you can unclip comfortably before venturing into traffic. I'm sure that if you post what pedals you have, you will receive a thousand diffferent recommendations of how to make it easier to unclip, and also of the brands of pedals that everyone else uses and how great they are.

You'll quite soon stop falling over so much. But, if you are like me there will still be days when you hit the deck. More than once I've been tempted to get good quality flat Wellgo pedals, despite chalking up plenty of miles with clipless. I suspect they are mainly an invention to give you something else to take you're mind off rotten weather conditions.

Good luck with the new purchase, I have four treks and I think they are all excellent bikes.

  4. If you just got a 2007 model they were on clearance prices 2 weeks ago. That's why I got a 2007 Pilot 2.1 spa for $1400 instead of $1649.
