FELT F4C-Frame weight?

I sent an email directly to customer support at Felt corporate and was sent a reply within a day with total bike weight for each of the road bike models.

Maybe they will respond to your email on the frame weight.

I almost bought the F4C a few months ago, but even with a wheel upgrade the bike was still going to be hard to under 18 lbs.

I don't know the answer, but I know when I was bike shoping, the F55 was about 8-12 oz lighter than the F4c with similar componet groups. I think the real difference was in the wheels as my F55 was one of the ones that came with the American Classic wheelset after Felt couldn't get ahold of the Kysrums anymore.

I guess my next question is are you going on specs or did you get the LBS to weigh the bikes for you? There can be quite a bit of variation between listed weight and reality.

If your LBS will do it, see it they will slap an unbuilt frame on a scale for you. I doubt that there is 2.5 lbs in frame alone. That would most likely put the Felt frame at 4-5 lbs. I can't see that. Personally I think that most of the bike weight is in the wheels. The Shimano R550 comes in a 1850g, that's almost 4 lbs.

FWIW, My 2005 F55 tips the scales at 16 lbs 9 oz without pump and cages. Listed weight 17 lbs 8 oz...

The LBS weighed the entire bike for me and it weighed 20 lbs (with pedals). This morning I went to the Fuji dealer and rerode the Fuji Team. There is a loss of that direct feeling (liveliness?), but I am not sure I want a 75 deg seat angle on the F4c for longish rides. Its 75 deg on a 52cm frame.

They did not weight the Team pro which I DID just buy, but there is no doubt that its much lighter with the same Shimano 550 wheelset.

FWIW, One of the deciding things was there is NO way for even money, same grouppo I'd ever forget that the Fuji was ~2.5 lbs lighter (with Cane Creek brakes too) so what kind of cash would it take to eventually shave 2.5 lbs off of the F4c??? I was thinking a Lot!!

This spring, when I was working on my very heavy Cannondale (it was over 21 lbs), I shaved just about 3 lbs off of it. I upgraded shifters, wheels and cranks. Cost, about $600. But with that being said, the lighter you go, the more expensive it becomes to reduce weight. In my case the biggest bang/buck came from replacing the cranks, BB and wheels.
