  1. Went for an afternoon ride today.

The minor roads had far more motor traffic than I've ever
encountered before on them - not nice. But when I got off the
road onto the higher moors it was great, though hard work.

Returning to the road, I decided (unusually) to blast home
along the main A386. It's predominantly downhill, so no
physical effort. And I certainly wasn't pedalling when
I set off the "slow down" speed detector in Mary Tavy:-)

Why can't the detectors at traffic lights be that responsive?

Nathan & I went out for a spin late this afternoon. Him spinning easily
gives me a sort of workout... Anyhow, even in our bit of rural Norfolk there
seemed to be quite a bit of traffic about the lanes. Possibly holiday
    traffic???

It was deceptively chilly here - the wind was quite a nasty headwind on the
way out and a cross wind on the way back for the route we took. It did,
however, make Nathan's day... as we cycled along one of the local lanes, a
lad on a tourer appeared from behind a tree (I think I can guess what he was
doing). Tourer was complete with panniers. As we cycled by, we said 'hello'.
A biot further along, Nathan said, "Well, Mum, I'm happy. That guy we just
passed is one of the 'in-crowd' at college, who is in the 'popular' group as
he has a MTB and is into jumps on his stumpjumper bike. He has made random
adverse comments about me being a roadie. Now I see him having a pee behind
a tree and his bike is a tourer complete with panniers. I'm storing that
    information for possible future need."

    Cheers, helen s
