Wow, that looks great! It has to be said that Scotland has a grandeur
all of its own. I love the Lakes, but Scotland is built on an

ones, and I thought the Exped'n 14 ones were particularly good. I also
particularly enjoyed your Winter Gallery 2003 - that icicles picture
induced a shiver of anticipatory winter excitement! Thanks 🙂

Excellent. It's been a while. Normally Friday to Sunday. A half decent
campsite, preferably low on facilities so that we have it mostly to
ourselves. A pub within walking distance. No midges. Or Paul Rooney.
Oh... and a couple of walks. But that is kind of optional.

Advance notice of dates would be a great help planning work & family
life around it.

I've since heard one or two incidents from the campsite. The problem seems
to be "out of season" when there's less people there. Remember, it's right
inside the village itself with main roads very close. I'd use the campsite
again, but would not leave car and tent by itself.

Personnely, I perfer Castlerigg (the one on the Eastern side) in Keswick>
The views are great, there's a simple pub nearby and it's easy to get to
many of the fells.

In Paterdale, there's Hartsop campsite with it's 2 pubs in the grounds. But
it's expensive and on one occasion seemed to flood easily. But it's also
within half an hour's walking distance to one of my favourite views - but
this with remain a secret!

Nice campsite but I think we would have trouble getting into the pub. Mid
week
in October we had to get there at opening time to get a seat. Also I hope
they
have sorted out the problem with there beer it was a bit cold 7C when an
cask mark inspector checked.

Though we probably don't object to him actually turning up.
So far, however, despite numerous threats, we only have
photographic evidence of his existence.

Llyn-y-Fan Fawr. We met at the campsite then Pickle fell in the lake
and was soaked.
