  1. OK, I want to bike / and have an excersize as I do it, a win/win situation. I cant find anyone to
talk to in my area about how to go about doing this. Can one of you or is there a website that
somone can refer me to that has information about excersizing like this. Like, how far I should go,
    and how fast?

This may sound like an odd recommendation, but a turbo trainer is a good investment. You can get fit
very quickly on one of these - because you don't stop pedalling - and you can see your progress
clearly as you use higher gears or do longer sessions. When you do get out on the road you will fly!

    Initial steps:

Do you know how to ride a bike? Maybe you could learn on a borrowed bike. Most people have something
    hanging up in their garage.

Next, get a bike. Go to your local bike shop (not *mart) and tell them you're a beginning
cyclist and ask them what they recommend. You'll need some basic accessories at first, but not
    all of them yet.

Next, try riding to places nearby. Substitute riding for driving or walking to places like the local
library, the post office, or the drug store. Try riding to work. If it's a long distance, you might
want to drive part of it. Make the part you drive shorter each time until you can ride the whole
    thing and back.

The more riding you do, you'll find yourself wanting more accessories, like bike shorts and gloves.
You can phase these in as you need them.

Join a local bike club -- most cities in North America have one. Ask at the shop where you
    bought the bike.
