...I'm still proud of him. Not only has he been a tremendous inspiration to cancer patients (and their families...and to everybody else for that matter) everywhere, but he has dramatically raised the profile of the sport in the U.S.. Without Lance, I'm doubtful we would have live OLN coverage now. Far more importantly, however, he has supplied us with some moments that (in my opinion at least) will go down as some of the greatest in American sports history. Who could forget 'the look' in 2001? Or the climb to Sestriere in '99? For me, that was right up there with the 1980 miracle on ice and the '86 Mets as the greatest sports event of the 20th century. I still get goosebumps when I think about it.
Anyway, I hope I'm getting ahead of myself. Lance has pulled rabbits out of his hat before, and he may very well do so again. But even if he doesn't...he'll always be a winner in my book.
