  1. Hi Guys,

In July my wife and I are taking part in the Etape. We are undertaking this challenge to raise money for the Aberdeen Branch of the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Scotland.

You can check our training progress on our Blog (devoteesofthewheel.blogspot.comdevoteesofthewheel.blogspot.com).

MS is the most common neurological disorder diagnosed amongst young adults. It affects the central nervous system, which is made up of the brain and the spinal cord. It is usually diagnosed between the ages of 20 and 40 years. There are an estimated 10,500 people with MS in Scotland. There is a strange correlation between increasing latitude and incidence of MS- hence Scotland has more people with MS per capita than anywhere else in the world.

The MS Society is the largest charity in the UK for people affected by Multiple Sclerosis. We are raising money for our local branch: The Aberdeen MS Stuart Resource Centre (ms-aberdeen.org.ukms-aberdeen.org.uk). The Centre desperately requires funding in order to continue its valuable work of providing information and advice, sessions for people who are recently diagnosed, support for individuals and their families, emotional support through counseling and opportunities to meet others with MS. The MS Society also funds MS research, runs a holiday respite centre, provides grants, and education and training on MS. It produces numerous publications on MS and runs a free phone specialist telephone support service.

Without funding the Stuart Resource Centre will close.

If you can spare some moola please go to this web address (justgiving.cometape2006) and donate. Please dig deep and sponsor us online. Donating through the site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor the Aberdeen MS Stuart Resource Centre.

    Cheers

    Kieran
