  1. Tomorow I'm picking up a car in Inglewood (east of LAX) and driving to
Bishop (east of Sierras) for the Easstern Sierra Double Century. What would
be the best route out of the LA basin for a Thursday mid-day - 110 to 10 to
    15 and north to 395 or 110 to 5 to state 14 to 395? Or ???

    Thanks!

110 to 10 to 15 to 395 is the fastest if you hit it before rush hour... and
if i remember rush hour starts at about 2:30 pm... go up the pass that is.

    hope this helps
    cheers

If it really is mid-day, and traffic on the 405 is moving, take the 405 all the
way north to the 5, and then the 14 (which comes up pretty quick). The 405 is
horrendous, but traffic north over the hill and through the valley moves well in
the middle of the day. This is the most direct and shortest route.
