Hi, I'm working on rebuilding a set of 8 speed Campy Ergo levers, they're the older ones with the pointy tops. I need to replace a cracked body so I need to pull everything out of the body. I'm having trouble getting the bolts (front and back) loose on the shaft that carries everything. They seem to be really stuck. The instructions I've found online for rebuilds make it sound like removing the front bolt is no big deal. I'm assuming they use the normal threading and aren't reverse threaded on something wierd. I'm also thinking I can put an allen wrench on the front and the back bolts to give myself some counter force?
Any guidance would be appreciated. This looks like a job I can handle but I need to get them apart first. 🙂 Thanks! Lyle

Have you worked through the instructions at Andrew Muzi's YellowJersey.org? They seem to address some of your questions about reverse thread and allen wrenches.

One caveat, the instruction on Andy Muzi's Yellow Jersey are for the newer "rounded" hood ergo levers. Since OP stated he has the older "pointy" hood lever, he may want to also look at the following:
