Below is the announcement about the new structure for the ERCDT.
Following the Department for Transports announcement in late 2004
that its contract with AEA Technology (AEAT) would not continue
beyond the current end date in May 2005, members of the English
Regions Cycling Development Team (ERCDT) have formed a new
independent consultancy called Transport Initiatives.
Transport Initiatives LLP* consists of nine current members of ERCDT
and will be offering consultancy services across the broad range of
sustainable transport. It will deliver the bulk of the remaining
ERCDT work programme under contract to AEAT.
The core ERCDT activities for the rest of the contract are the
Regional Benchmarking project (in partnership with the CTC, the
national cyclists association) and the preparation of Cycle Friendly
Infrastructure 2, new guidance on designing for cycling.
In addition ERCDT will be offering assistance to English Local
Authorities outside London on how best to provide for cyclists in
their second Local Transport Plans. This will include advice on the
development of appropriate local targets for cycling, one of DfT's
mandatory indicators for LTP2.
