OK, so far I've been to three. There is one more coming up though I'm
not sure when so I might miss it.
Party A: Quite a few people in that department are Indian, including
the boss, so they had it catered by a local Indian restaurant, same as
last year. Because of that, this is getting to be one of the premier
parties to crash every year and there will be a lot of protests if
they change. It was a delicious spread and well-attended as word got
out. No entertainment.
Party B (my department): Very nice sandwiches and wraps ordered from
food service, and someone made delicious stuffed mushrooms. Desserts
were disappointing though. There was a single pumpkin cheesecake
(which was excellent) and some yummy homemade peanutbutter chocolate
chip cookies (which I commissioned my niece to make for me to bring
in). But otherwise the remainder were boxed Christmas cookies. We've
had better participation in the past. Next year I'll have to bake
more. There was some recorded Xmas music and, as always, we sang The
Twelve Days of Christmas at the behest of one of the more beloved
employees. However, I neglected to put together my slide show of
department personnel photographs and music, which added a lot to last
year's shindig. Again, I'll have to do better next year.
Part C (unit party, including above departments): I wasn't going in
to work but came in at the last moment. Most people were gone but
there was plenty of food left, all ordered through food service.
Chicken piccata (which I didn't try), steak teriyaki (delicious!),
herbed cous cous (ditto), roasted vegetables (ditto), mostaccioli
arrabiata (competant but not inspired and not very arrabiata), and
fruit. The cake was gone by the time I got there but I heard it was
good. In any case, that takes care of dinner for tonight.
