I think the reason that you did not get a lot of responses was because of the late posting time, and
requirement for early answers.
However, had this been me, I would have looked through the Sunday newspaper ad-circulars, and
bought whichever one was on sale with the best rebates, regardless of accuracy. Then, you would
have had one, probably for free after rebates, and could have spent more time looking for a really
good meter.

to have only one.
For those who test very frequently, any medical coverage may not be enough if you use more than 150
test strips per month. By having one of the meters that use the lower priced test strips, you can
make do with them, when you are out of your main ones, or use them at in-between times, when an
"exact" result is not as critical.
I do not care for the arm-testing feature because it is inaccurate for high or low readings, making
a second test necessary on the finger. That is good for the manufacturers, but twice as expensive
for me, and not what I want when I may be low and need the result quickly.
Never-the-less, if that is what you want, or anybody else, Home Diagnostics has a new meter called
the TrueTrack, that seems to be similar to the One Touch ultra, but with test strips at $39.99 for
100. It is sold under store brand names, like their other lowcost meter, the Prestige IQ. I use the
Prestige IQ, and like it as a backup meter to my Accu-Chek Advantage. Haven't tried this newer one,
yet, so I don't know about its accuracy.
Walgreens and CVS have specials on this meter with purchase of the test strips, but so far, are not
giving it out for free. I suspect that they will after a couple of months.
