Viatchelav Ekimov qui vient participer à son 15e Tour de France a d'ores et déjà renoncé à s'aligner pour un 16e Tour et par là même égaler le record de 16 participations détenu par Joop Zoetemelk. Par contre, ce ne sera que fin août qu'il décidera si oui ou non il poursuit sa carrière cycliste d'une année supplémentaire.
