  1. Today was the Autumn Meet of the Finnish branch of the IHPVA. Heard some corrections on my earlier
info on the local Ecotrip, as well as some new info, so thought I'd let you know... so you can make
up your summer plans 😉 If there's any Swedes, Estonians or Russians, this is your chance to have a
nice bent tour without travelling far.

Think I mentioned Forssa recently, but the Ecotrip won't be there except maybe in 2005. For the year
2004, the trip will be a bit more South-West, in the direction of Turku. The trip is planned to be
from Wednesday 4.8. to Saturday 7.8. The Ecotrip has been in the vicinity of Turku already 4 (?)
times before, hopping across a chain of islands. This year we have a similar plan with a bit of a
    new twist.

The primary plan is to consider a route Salo-Kemiö-Nauvo-Naantali-Salo. The islands at the
South-West coast of Finland form a unique cultural (a long history of special Swedish-speaking
settlements) and environmental milieu (I heard there's only about 7 similar clusters of islands in
the whole world). The daily riding is roughly something like 60 km, more if you feel like it...
There are some ferry rides and stops at cultural points of interest, one research station is on the
route as well as an info site about the state of the environment in the area and how that has
changed. Nokia also has a big cell phone factory in Salo but at the current point we are just
    throwing around ideas...

Salo is about 40 km of riding from Turku and 140 km from Helsinki.

The alternative plan would be Kaarina-Nauvo-Åland. Åland is the internationally famous big island
South-West of Finland but many people have already experienced it, so that's one reason why this is
    the secondary plan...

    To be continued...
