I don't like to eat alone, and since I live alone except
for the 2 cats (they don't count, but they think they do),
I never eat at the kitchen or dining room tables. I eat
off a tray in bed watching tv.

Breakfast and lunch and dinner? That's a lot of TV to endure.

Not to mention what the bedroom looks like. In 50 years the only time
I've eaten in bed was when I was in the hospital. If Louise is
feeling ill she may bring a glass of water for her nightstand, but
other than that, there is no food or drink in our bedroom. That's
    just disgusting.

Well, I like lots of things on tv so I don't mind it
at all. If you don't like tv don't watch it. I like it
and it's not something I have to endure! Of course if
it ever becomes all reality shows I will have to kill
myself. But for now it's great.

Why???? I put my dinner on a tray and take it to the
bedroom and sit in bed and eat and watch tv. Then I take
the tray back to the kitchen. There is no sign that there
has ever been any food in the bedroom. Maybe you're judging
this practice on what would happen if you did it. Perhaps
you're a slob and can't keep the food on the tray or in you
mouth and slop it all over the place. That is not the
    case for me.

    Kate

Exactly, Kate. When I lived alone, this is almost precisely what I did
every night during the week. Weekends I often went out to dinner.

At the time I had a formal dining room which I preferred not to eat in
alone, but only a very tiny dropleaf kitchen table which wasn't
particularly comfortable, and I sat at it, I was staring at the wall.

That as pre-PC, however, so now if I were living alone, I'd probably eat in
    front of the computer. :-)

I don't like to do things that require my hands while

to have to switch back and forth. But that's just me.

But more power to you if you can multitask that way. ;-)

Yes. I can only afford one and I want it in the
br. I don't like sitting up in a chair to watch.
I like to have my feet up or even lie down. I've
always been more of a horizontal person than a vertical
person from the time I was a kid. I like to be comfortable
and I don't find sitting comfortable enough.

Well, I guess it depends on what you mean by traces.
Would the CSI people be able to figure out I'd been
eating in bed? Probably. But I clean up if anything
spills and I don't think most people would notice anything
although the tantalizing smell of turkey dinner in the

That as pre-PC, however, so now if I were living alone, I'd probably
eat in front of the computer. :-)

I probably wouldn't do that even if I had a PC at home.
I don't like to do things that require my hands while
I'm eating - like talking on the phone, reading, or
working a computer. Just because it's sort of a pain
to have to switch back and forth. But that's just me.

But more power to you if you can multitask that way. ;-)

    Kate

Perhaps easier for me, as I spend my entire workday multitasking on a PC,
    apart from meetings.

Still, and always be in the eyes of some. But some like me quite a

Why the hell do you care what Kate does?

I didn't say I cared. I just said it was disgusting. And it wasn't
even in a response to her. And I still think it's disgusting.

    Is that your only tv?

Yes. I can only afford one and I want it in the
br. I don't like sitting up in a chair to watch.
I like to have my feet up or even lie down. I've
always been more of a horizontal person than a vertical
person from the time I was a kid. I like to be comfortable
and I don't find sitting comfortable enough.

I find it very hard to believe that anyone could consistently eat in
bed and there not be traces.

Well, I guess it depends on what you mean by traces.
Would the CSI people be able to figure out I'd been
eating in bed? Probably. But I clean up if anything
spills and I don't think most people would notice anything
although the tantalizing smell of turkey dinner in the
room may not be written off as room freshener. ;-)

Oooohh yes!!! Turkey scented room freshener. I see that all the
time. Hopefully you don't like fish.
