I've just watched the 'farewell to eastway' videos on you-tube. They left me feeling much sadder than I expected. It was at a visit there that I came into contact with the Eagle Road Club, and became involved for a few years with competitive cycling. I think that some of the best times I had were taking part in the annual 10 mile TT series that Victoria CC ran there. Open to all and always a good natured crowd. Is there anything to relace the circuit? I can't imagine that access to the olympic velodrome will be as open.

You should read Cycling Weekly. They have already found out that the 'legacy velopark', ie. the circuit to replace the Eastway after the Games will be h alf the size promised. Somemthing stinks.
An interim replacement circuit is due at the Royal Docks, on the stretch between Excel and the University of East London. I rode past there yesterday and damn all is happening. In addition the UEL have a huge heavy padlocked gate, which prevents you from walking or cycling the length of the docks. Nice one.
The Easyway replacement itself is at Hog Hill in Redbridge. Other people can comment about progress there.
