When I am on my annual camping tour I am inevitably on the road as early as
possible. (I start on 2 June this year.)
1. It avoids the morning rush hour of all the children hurtling into school on
their bikes when I am heading out of town!
2. I means I cycle in the coolest part of the day and have usually finished my
days journey by about 2 pm and I'm set up, had a glass of shandy, and ready to
do my days shopping and see the local sights.
So this morning I was up at 0530 and checked the forecast -- bright intervals
but a really possibility of heavyish rain by midday.
At 0600 I was mounting my bike and off for a gentle trundle on a sunny morning
with hardly any wind, roads empty and I felt really good. Got back a short
time ago having done 35 miles in about 2 1/2 hours and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Next is to pop up the my 100 year old Dad and cook him his Sunday roast and I
thought I might pop out this afternoon for another local jaunt -- but I see
the forecast has slipped the downpour to this afternoon so I shall probably
spend it catching up on a few household chores and then do a pre tour clean
and service of my VP3 so that it's all done before the last minute rush.
