Some of you here in the US may have received an e-mail that has been passed along in chain-letter fashion warning you not to visit the cars.gov site, which is the site about the 'cash for clunkers' program where one can trade-in an older vehicle and get up to a $4500 rebate from the government to use to buy a more fuel-efficient vehicle. The e-mail refers to a story that aired on Fox News, and states that anyone who visits that site will have to agree that their computer 'will become U.S. Government Property'.
The Fox News story is a pure hoax. The site is safe, as told here by Snopes. If you get such an e-mail, reply to the sender that it is a hoax and refer them to the Snopes link.
Yeah, someone sent one of those e-mails to me, it sounded very far-fetched so I checked Snopes and saw that it was a hoax. Just wanted to share, especially since there are also a lot of virus hoax e-mails still floating around out there.
