I'm looking at a good buy on some Dura-ace wheels (latest model) and was interested in anyones experience with them. I'm looking to use them as trainers/all round riding. I'm not too hard on wheels (80kg) but don't like having to true them too regularly.
Check out pricepoint.com they have the new dura ace for 299.00 for the set built up on open pros..the bearings are smooth and on open pro rims they are easy to fix
I've ridden the dura-ace WH-7800 10 speed wheelset for the last 1.5 years, riding early in the morning sometime in the dark and rain, I've run over branches, pot holes and all manner of obstacles that I could'nt see in time. I do about 250km a week. In this time I've never had to true them or regrease them, even when I've taken the bike for service at the LBS. Their reasonably light weight, have bullet proof smooth rolling hubs, straight pull spokes some of which are offset, radial on the rear drive side and cross on the other. Given that they have worked all of this into the design, means that Shimano have really thought about wheel sets. Can't go wrong on these wheels, their bullet proof. Also like the finish (greyish with polished hubs) and reflective decals on the rims.
Can't recommend these highly enough, if you shop around I've seen some bargains.
