Dura Ace 7801 10 speed wheelset

Those wheels will only take a 10 speed cassette.

The splines are deeper than on the 9 speed ones (to ensure that the splines on the cassette itself don't dig into the aluminium freehub body)

...so wouldn't the reverse be true as well?....both my 9 speed & 10 speed cassettes work on all my shimano splined wheels

It's only the latest 10-speed Dura Ace (7800 model series) hubs and wheelsets, and the latest Ultegra wheelset, that are like this.. the older Dura-Ace, and all the other stuff have steel freehub bodies that don't have the deeper splines.

The hub spline interface that's deeper is the cut-out bit on the cassette, so the 10 speed cassettes will fit just fine onto any Shimano freehub bodies. (The cut out on the cassette is just a bit deeper than what's necessary to fit)
