    Notice the pace (about 21.6 min/mi) on the uphill that is
    considered sickenly fast as well as commonness of xc skiing
    training among winners.

    The new female 50-59 course record holder "only runs a
    couple of days a week -- her knees can't take any more than
    that, she said -- but she's big on cross-training. She swims
    five days a week, bikes, skis occasionally and snowshoes
    frequently. The snowshoeing, she believes, is the reason she

    That link also has a good pic on portion of uphill. Brown
    also competed in ss nationals in 2004.

    Yep, Mount Marathon was yesterday - about 3 mi rt, 3k ft up.
    The paper had so many things that related to some of our
    recent discussions - from a different perspective - that I
    thought I'd post the pictures.
