I wanted to give a positive report for a Half Marathon that I ran last
year and plan to run again this year. The Double Creek Half Marathon
in Dover, PA is the best little half marathon that I have run. It is
well organized, the course is well marked, they have plenty of fluid
and gel stops with plenty of volunteers at very intersection and they
provide a fantastic lunch after the race that makes it worth the entry
fee. The course is a bit challenging. there is a hill somewhere
around the 3 mile mark. The rest of the course is beautiful country
side. One neat thing they do is take a photo of every finisher with
their time in the background and they make this photo avaialble to
download and print. I have not seen this before other than in the
bigger races and they make you pay for it. You can see last years
pictures on their web site at www.doublecreek.org. The only bad thing
is that the race starts at 7:00am but I guess that is because it is in
June and they want to avoid the potential heat. There are hotels
nearby so I guess out of towners could make due. Last year the race
had about 300 runners and I understand it has been growing eversince
it's inception.
