Dossing on the Thames Path?

Even outside the tidal river you may have a problem finding some land to
camp on, especially in the suburbs. Probably have to get well past Windsor
before you could find somewhere "free" to camp.
There is a Camping and Caravan Club camp site next to the river at Chertsey
Bridge, anywhere else around there and you would probably get hassle.
Runnymede Meadow is NT property and I don't think they like campers.

Fisherfolk put up bivvies, and they're not a problem - are they?
Perhaps you'll need to carry a collapsible fishing rod as well :-)

Its not ideal anywhere. Impossible or at least very unwise till
you get out of London. I have seen tents here and there, but a
lot of the path is near populated areas and that might mean
groups of yobs after the pubs close? I suppose if you work out
your route to be as far as possible from towns at night, Windsor
to source would be possible over a week. Reading will be the
worst bit.
