  1. I have to admit, I bought in to the theory that you can't win these days unless you sacrifice the
    whole season. Vino has proven that you don't have to forgo victory in your build up to the Tour. I
    doubt anyone will care unless he wins, but in my mind he has demonstrated that racing like Armstrong
    (as if the Tour is the only race that matters) is not the only way to prepare.

    I hope that Vino wins this year or soon, to prove that point. Maybe then we will see the TDF winners
    racing a full season again.

  2. I agree with you Nick, my thought is that if a cyclist can have two periods of peak form during a
    season, a complete rider can struggle for victory in the classics or the Tour in the same year. In
    the past there were riders who prepared exclusively for the Classics and others who aimed only the
    Grand Tours, but those riders were also losing in face of the leaders of their generation like
    Hinault or Merckx.

    If Vino can make the podium then this theory is right.
