I am considering getting a fixed wheel bike, but would like the option of free-wheel also. As far as I can see the only choice is a 'flip flop' which means you have fixed on one side of the rear wheel and free on the other so you have to stop and turn the wheel. What I want is either a simple clutch or a double sprocket arrangement so you could change from fixed to free.
Does this exist?

Fixed hubs come with two threads on each side. One for the sprocket/freewheel and another for the lock nut.
There's no way to fit two of anything on either side of a conventional fixed hub.
Besides, how would you propose moving the chain from one sproket to the other? You would have to undo the wheel anyway.
No one has yet invented a compact clutch as far as I am aware.
