  1. I'm sure they have strong muscles and everything.....but I would guess its developed for endurance not explosive power? Would pro cyclists have comparable jumping ability to that of a pro basketball player?

i used to ride my bike to play basketball. and back then i jumped a lot higher than i can now since i started driving to play ball :p
but i have been having an itch to get back to riding so it will be interesting to see what people say about this topic.

EDIT: i am no PRO at either tho hehe 😄

No... though maybe the some of the sprinters can jump fairly high due to their high proportion of fast twitch muscle fibers.

  4. I have a hard time jumping in my cycling shoes.

We have riders who can do sets of standing hops onto 1m+ boxes. The lowest is for one of the girls and is a 70cm box for sets of 8 each leg.

Yep, Aussie sprinters can certainly jump.
