  1. So here's the thing, bought myself a new Lemond chambrey road bike, all very lovely, three weeks ago and have done circa 300 miles on it.

Now I've noticed that the bracket that my rear derailer hangs off has bent so that the arm, rather than hanging straight down, is canted in towards the wheel.

The question is am I just putting down SO much power that I have deformed the bracket or

Has someone just knocked the gear when I wasn't looking and done the damage that way?

It's been knocked because it should definately be straight as an arrow. Don't try to straighten it yourself because it's alloy and might snap. Take it back to the bike shop and have them get a replacement hanger. They might do it under warranty if you're lucky.
