Disk fork for Tour Easy?

Has anyone done this, put a disk brake fork on an Easy Racers' bike? I'm not thinking of a
suspension fork but a conventional unit modified to accept disk brakes. I'm probably getting a
Tour Easy EX pretty soon w/the rear disk brake, and I'm thinking about modifying the front end.
What say you?

Stick a Nexave rollerbrake on it. No need for a new fork. Only minus is that you might have to
loosen the cable when changing tires. Thats a bit annoying. Otherwise they work like discbrakes. I
got them on my TE-clone.

We have done one and have another here at the shop to do. It does require a new fork. Stock one is
too narrow for the disc to turn. Speedy

Why would you want to put disk brake on a wheel that only has approx a 35 percent loading? My
experience with disk both front and rear on my touring bent tells me to leave well enough alone
on my GRR.

get the 451 front wheel)

I think you guys are right- but how else are you going to stay ahead of the Joneses?

In any case, the disk brake is somewhat more weather-resistant than a conventional caliper brake.
Whether you'll be able to *use* the extra braking power on that lightly loaded front wheel in slick
conditions is a problem I'll leave for the class.

Also, it makes interchanging wheels that much easier. You could have a fat 20" (ISO 406) for touring
and a skinny 20" (ISO 451) for fast riding and not worry about having to readjust your brakes
between the two.

Longbikes' Greg Peek built a disk brake fork for my Vanguard.

I'm curious; what's your experience? Mine is only very positive! These things are great!

Jeez, guys, gimme a break! :) Actually, I hadn't thought about the 35% load issue on the front
wheel, so I understand what you mean. I'll ride the bike for a while to see how I like the stock
setup and then make my decision. However, I really like disk brakes for several reasons, in no
particular order:

1) They look COOL;
2) they are finely modulated;
3) they are super smooth;
4) they don't scratch up the rim
5) they work no matter what the weather, water mud,
6) they are easy to adjust;
7) they don't squeel,
8) and I like 'em.

I don't know any Joneses...

I've exchanged a couple of emails with Speedy Delaire, and he has already done this mod for some
folks. He suggests going with the smaller rotor (160mm?) because of the light load on the wheel.
Sounds logical. Anyway, we'll see.

Thanks for the input.

Since changing the pads, the Hope Mini on the back of my Speedmachine can be made to generate a
delicious howling noise. A little more, or less, pressure on the lever is sufficient to banish it.
