if the pads get oil on them they can soak it up and you loose usually like 50% or more brking power, any chace that couldve happened ? mabie just try some new pads

if there cable discs then your problem is cable stretch and you need to loosen up the screw on the back of the caliper pinning down the cable and pull more of the cable further through then tighten the bolt again this should fix the problem and make the brakes firmer at the lever
