  1. Grilled flank steak marinated in "a [censored]" (read: from 3 fruits) of
lime juice, olive oil, garlic, black pepper, ground (toasted fresh)
    cumin, oregano, and salt.

served with flour tortillas, plain rice, onions, chopped cilantro,
tomatoes, mesclun greens, sharp cheddar cheese onions, and habañero
sauce. (or taco bell sauce scrounged from a bag found in the fridge, if
you are my husband. he doesn't like "fresh" tomatoes, but he'll eat
salsa and tomato *sauce*. go figure.

I bought some ice cream , too, but now i'm stuffed.

Sounds good! That's the sort of marinade I have on steaks I order at
    El Salvadoran restaurants.

    That's icing on the cake!
    🙂

Have you tried Salvadoran style "surf & turf"?
(they don't call it surf & turf, I do) -
    steak and garlic prawns?

I have to say I am not so well-versed in the particulars of traditional
regional specialties. That sounds great, though. do you have a recipe for
the garlic prawns? do you think it would work skewered, on a grill?
I'm making my husband dinner for his birthday tomorrow, and I think he
would love that- and I'm already grilling ribeyes and veggie kabobs.

No. It's one of those things I'm happy to eat "out". It's
    inexpensive and good.

Although the prawns I order are butterflied, I don't see why it
wouldn't work as whole, skewered and grilled.

Sorry I can't provide you with a recipe. It's along the line of
Chinese style "salt & pepper" (fill in the blank) adding garlic to the
    mix.
