I really looking forward to making ham, beans, and potatoes.
No recipe. My great aunt used to make this. Just dump some
chopped up ham, snapped green beans, and cut-up potatoes into
a large pot, cover with water, and boil for a half hour or so.
No seasonings are needed as the potatoes and beans and the "pot
likor" are flavored by the ham.
These days, however, I've been using smoked cottage hams and
they don't seem to have any, or very much, salt in them so I
do have to salt the whole thing. I got a cherry-smoked cottage
ham at the West Side Market the last time I was in Cleveland.
It's been in my freezer waiting to be made into ham, beans,
and potatoes. This is one of my very favorite things to eat.
It's so simple and yet so good! I'll be eating it all next
week. Can't wait.
