  1. So I needed to get off my sedentary ass and bought a bike (more than one, but that's a different story) I was wondering if the bike I have will hold me (especially the wheels) I was 256# and now 249# (after a couple of rides on my mtn bike & walking 5 times in the last 1.5 weeks)
The bike in question is a Trek Hilo 1000 w/ the Rolf Alpen wheelset. Don't laugh too loudly, I picked it up for about $400 and only has 50 miles on it. I'm afraid I'll "taco" the rims.
Is there an acceptable weight for this bike? Should I wait until I'm less than say 200#? I'm being serious and honest here, so don't poke too much fun (and no, I qiut going Hoo,hoo like the pilsbury dough boy....but it is funny)

    Thanks,
    -Judson

  2. I used to weigh 220 and rode on road wheels with 24 spokes on them, they never seemed to be compromised, you should be okay.

  3. You could buy a set of stronger wheels for now and then start using your "good" wheels when you're lighter. Also you could keep the "good" wheels for events you may do🙂
