  1. Nah, don't kid yourself - race is, has been, and always will be the overwhelming factor.

edit: considering your location, you can assuredly attest to this glaring facet of midwestern life.

  2. "Off topic where now for the Republican party?"
I will accept the party's nomination!

I might nominate you for a Toga party.

  4. Taga!
    Toga!
    Toga!

  5. "Nah, don't kid yourself - race is, has been, and always will be the overwhelming factor."

Yup. It's always those damned Amish!!!

    Yankees!

  7. If I offended anyone by bringing up race, then I do apologise. I didn't want to start
a war of words on the subject, but it's something that one can't avoid. On this side
of the pond the situation is a better, but far from perfect.

  8. I've gotta laugh out loud. 'They've' got you apologizing for broaching an issue that needs to be discussed. Very typically employed strategem.
Well, don't think for a moment that I've taken offense. As I mentioned on another thread, acceptance of what is can put one on the path toward peace of mind, spirit, and a sense of tranquility. Not accepting elicits the converse.
Yeah, many folks would rather not acknowledge that pink elephant sitting in the front of the room. More expedient, and much easier on the conscience to pretend it simply doesn't exist...
Don't worry yourself too much - the only folks you might've offended are the racists/bigots (yeah, this forum has a few of them). Heck, they're always offended, so you really haven't accomplished much. Peace, always.

If we're so racist, how did we re-elect a black President? How many black persons have been President of your 'far from perfect' country?

or are you going to vote? It's a simple question offered because I thought it'd be interesting to see if the number of people on this site who are voting vs. those that aren't voting tacks with the typically abysmal voter turnout nationwide. For a nation that is, for a lot of US citizens and people in other countries, the standard-bearer for democracy, our passion for democracy sure isn't reflected very much in the number of people that vote.
This isn't a topic about politics, so please leave your political diatribes at the door.

I voted for Obama, the Dream Act, and gay marriage. I voted against the casino. I did not vote in your poll.

Thanks Ohio for voting to move forward.

  12. My glorious great grandpappy, ol' Cletus Arightus CampyRobert the Righteous, fought with our first great Republican Father of these here United States of the Offended, Commander in Chief Honest Abe Lincoln to free Tony's great grappy, Zach da Icy Hot from the oppression of Mastah Jedediah Huskey and the infamous grey bellies of the rebellious and traitorous state of Tennessee!

Of course, we'll ignore the fact that Eastern Tennessee tried to break away and align itself with the Union...ruins a great story line.

  13. "Thanks Ohio for voting to move forward."

Leading the way to failure since 2008!

Do yourself a favor and speak for yourself, please.
If you are so racist, why did you vote for a black Presidential candidate? That is only a question you are qualified to answer. You are not qualified to speak for "we".
Pardon if you will my lack of a better description, but I consider it ridiculous to believe racism has been eradicated in the USA due to the fact a black man has been elected President (again).
FYI, I am an American living in Canada.

  20. I voted Yesterday. I wish I rode my bike to the Polls.
