Derailleur adjustment advice

If the "hesitation" only happens when shifting to a smaller
sprocket, the problem may be friction in the cables/housings
or the BB cable guide.

Might also be the STI lever going south.

From your description the problem could be:

(a) cable tension, though you didn't specify whether the
hesitation is shifting up or down or both

(b) other cable problem, such as dirt or fraying inside the
housing, that prevents normal motion

(c) derailleur needs lubrication

(d) derailleur hanger bent

(e) internal shifter problem

Let us know what you find.

gooked up inner wire and/or housing or gooked up under BB
cable guide. Unhook the cable and push the der up the cogset
while pedaling....in the stand...does it go up and down
smoothly? Then it's related to either adjustment or the
cable/housing.
