  1. I am trying to run to get back into shape mentally and
physically. Unfortunately, I am suffering from depression.
And this is preventing me from running. Is there anything
one can do in order to get over the depression so one can
get back into shape? It's a catch 22, if you ask me. One
must exercise to get over one's depression, but it is the
depression that prevents one from doing the exercise to
    begin with.

Figure out something to do while running/walking, like
carrying an MP3 player with your favorite music or audio
    book converted to MP3 files.

Just do it is the easy answer. See a doctor about
medication. See if there are any groups you can start
walking with. Almost all malls have people recovering from
heart attacks walking around in them. Walk for some cause.
Park your car a mile from home. Blame your depression on gas
    prices and walk to work.

Music is good, some books convert to audio but most don't.
I've been listening to old time radio shows. Much of the
comedy still works and some of the mystery shows are very
very good. They require a bit of imagination but I think
that's why a lot of them lasted 30 years.
