  1. I usually make it myself, and have never been wowwed by it, however, we
got a belated xmas present from our son's play-buddy's mommies. I'm
recovering from the worst gastroenteritis I've ever had (my face is
gaunt!), and for my first meal, I broke open their customized basket of
goodies (they get things they like and make baskets tailored to the
    recipient).
First I minced 1/3 cup red onion, and pan fried it in olive oil until
very browned, then I added 1.5 cups Israeli couscous, and stirred it
until brown, covered with boiling mock chicken broth, plus a little
more, and simmered covered for 15 mintues. To serve, I spooned out into
a bowl, and dipped my spoon in a jar of harissa that also came in the
pack, stirred it through and ate.
WHAT GREAT HARISSA. It is in a square squat 6 oz jar with a yellow label
with the words "roasted tomato harissa" on the front with a drawying of
a red tomato. You have to look carefully to see an art deco "LuLu" at
the bottom. It is from the LuLu restaurant in SF.
Nippy hot, with balanced flavours that were just perfect. I've given up
    making it from now on.
