it is tarmac?

I recently walked a stretch west from Ballater. It wasn't tarmac but
was a hard packed cycle path in reasonable condition, but with the
normal detritus.As it runs alongside a fairly quiet road, I personally wouldn't bother
with it, I'd just cycle on the road itself.
