Deep V is a model for Velocity, but a generic term in the industry.
They bring improved aerodynamics, stiffer wheel due to shorter spokes/increased bracing angle, stiffer rim, and sometimes more weight... depending on material(s) involved. Really deep v rims ~ 50 mm deep (or more) and bring even more aero improvements... and more side wind sensitivity.
Every wheel design and implementation brings it own set of compromises.
