Recently my Toplight seems to have started to fail. It is running on a hub dynamo and if I test it by spinning the wheel it seems fine. When I set off the whole system starts off working ok but within a few minutes teh whole lots goes out. If I spin the wheel and look at the headlight you can see the filament just barely glow. The LED indicator on the SW-NX10 switch has also gone out at this point. If I disconnect the back light the headlight works fine. After a while, if I reconnect the back light the whole cycle can be repeated.
Does anyone have any suggestions other than replacement. Is it worth checking anything on/in the unit before ditching it

I'm not sure what all the model numbers mean ... but ...
I had a system with a Shimano hub dynamo and it worked well for a long time, then it suddenly developed a fault. I'd cycle away and he light came on, then when I got up a bit of speed it would just go out. Slow down, and it would stay out. Stop completely, start off again and the light came back on again until I got up a bit of speed...
In my case, the faulty component was the switch thing - the bit that turns the light on automagically when it gets dark. The fault still remained even when switched to the "always on" position. I just threw the switch away and wired the lamp to the dynamo via a simple handlebar-mounted on/off switch. Although your fault isn't exactly the same, it is a bit similar. Try it without the switch in the circuit before you bin the Toplight.

yup I have gone through a truckload of those switches in exactly the way you describe. My wiring harness now has connectors all over the place so I can bypass components if they fail or to troubleshoot. I think some of the switches lasted a week or more before failing. (My mum's OTOH is going strong after several years and many 000s of miles). One time SJSC sent an older model switch (handlebar mounted, no light sensor) by mistake and when I got fed up with returning the faulty ones I tried this as an alternative to direct wiring and it seems to have been ok. I will recheck bypassing the switch as I cannot be certain now whether I did that already
