Ben -
Probably best place to pick up a ride is from Centennial Park - lots of bunchs leave from there,
mostly going south (La Perouse, Sutherland, Waterfall, Royal National Park, Stanwell Tops, or
Wollongong & back if your feeling stong). Probably better roads for cycling for the most part than
the north.
Issue with going north is the way to get out of the main metro area - the Pacific Highway going
north is not much fun after about 8am but after Hornsby there are some great rides - Bobbin Head,
McCarrs Creek, West Head, Akuna Bay, Galston George, Berowra Waters, Brooklyn, Peats Ridge, Woy
Woy, Wyong - tend to be a bit hillier and the Pacific Highway is not that friendly esp if heading
north when solo

I would need to rent a (road) bike. Where's a possibility, Centennial Park? I will be staying at
the University of Sydney.
The Uni has a pretty active bike club as I recall - there are a few bike shops in Clovelly Rd near
the park that rent bikes - not sure of the quality though.

Tuesday and Thursday afternoons about 4pm there is a circuit in the park that starts moderately but
then turns into an interesting quasi race.
On weekends you could do worse than call in for coffee at Robs caravan in the middle of the
park anytime after 8.30 and strike up a conversation - no shortage of chatting lycra for the
next 3 hours.
