As the subject was mentioned in a thread earlier I thought I'd post an update on my problems replacing the cassette on my bike.
To recap some years ago Dawes had one model with some Campag bits except for the Miche M-series hub, cassettes for which aren't easy to find. I have three versions of the story of how this came about and perhaps they are all true to an extent. Somehow I am the first person to want to service such a bike and ending up contacting Dawes late May.
Mid June they kindly offered to supply me a _pair_ of wheels. That's undeniably great customer service, except as things stand they still haven't found something suitable. Have they gone so far into badging and boxing that they can't build a wheel ?

I doubt it - but if they give that impression then you're less likely to get annoyed with them for not sorting it out in a hurry.

They never really could build a wheel - many a Galaxy needed much tweaking before it left my workshop. :-) The tandems usually weren't too bad though.
