  1. Matrimony Bars

    Serving Size: 10

    1 3/4 Cup Quick cooking oats
    1 1/3 Cup Flour
    1 pinch Salt
    1 cup Butter
    1 pound Dates ; cut up
    1 cup Water
    1 cup Sugar

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine oats, flour and salt, cut in butter.
    Spread half of mixture in baking pan. (no size noted in book) Combine
    dates, water and sugar in double boiler; cook until slightly thickened.
    Spread over oat mixture in the pan. Cover with remaining oats mixture.
    Bake at 350 for 30 minutes.
