    Date Nut Roll Candy

3 cups Granulated Sugar 1 cup Evaporated Milk 1 pkg. Pitted Dates*, chopped
1/2 cup White Corn Syrup 1 tsp. Pure Vanilla Extract 2 Tablespoons Butter 1 cup Pecans, chopped
    Confectioner's Sugar for coating

Combine sugar, milk, dates, and white corn syrup. Boil over low heat. Stir constantly throughout
cooking as it tends to stick. When a few drops of the mixture form a firm ball in cold water, remove
from heat. Add vanilla, butter and pecans. Beat until very stiff. Pour onto a wet towel, and form
into a roll. When cold, wrap in foil, and store in refrigerator. Slice to serve. Coat with
Confectioner's sugar if desired. This will keep for several months. Very good and very rich!

    * If you can find them, Dromedary puts out some that are chopped and you can hear them when you
    shake the box.

    Date Nut Roll Candy

1 cup milk 2 cups granulated sugar 1 tablespoon butter or margarine 1 1/2 cups chopped, pitted dates
1 cup chopped pecans 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Cook milk, sugar and butter over medium heat until it forms a soft (or hard) ball when dropped into
a cup of cold water, about 234 degrees F. Add dates, nuts and vanilla extract. Beat with a wooden
spoon until creamy. It helps to have a man to stir. Put a clean cup towel on the counter or butter a
sheetof wax paper. When the candy is cool enough to handle, roll the mixture into the towel or wax
paper in a log shape. Refrigerate overnight and slice when chilled. Makes 20 servings.
