I just got a "like new" pair of Sidi Dominator (MTB) 4 shoes. Unfortunately, the cleat receptacle, which is the plate that has holes to screw in cleats, has the top of one of the holes sheared off. I can either buy a replacement receptacle or perhaps reverse the plate top to bottom, which would give me the two good holes that I need.
Does anyone know how to gain access to this plate? It looks like this may have to be done from inside the shoe. I can remove the insert but there is still a glued in cork liner that looks like it has part of the outline of the receptacle.

I have Sidi genius and the insole just comes right out. On other SPD shoes I have owned, it is the same. The insole just comes out and you can see the metal plate. Some of my shoes have had sticker you put over the plate to keep out water and debris. Your friend will probably have to unglue the cork liner to get at the plate. Yes, he could just turn it around to get the other set of threaded holes. --------------- alex
Thanks, Alex. Yes, I too have other pairs of SPD shoes where it is easy to get to the plate from the inside. However, I took a look at my own pair of Dominators and I find that the liner is very securely glued. It would probably be destroyed if removal is attempted.
